Barista Spotlight: Alayna
It’s time to get to know one of our new baristas in the latest edition of our barista spotlight blog series! Read on to meet Alayna!
How long have you worked at BonLife? Almost 2 months!
Why did you want to work here? I’ve been coming to Bonlife for a couple years, and every time I walk in the atmosphere is so nice. The other baristas are super amazing, and I’m so grateful to be a part of this environment!
What do you like about working in specialty coffee? I really love being able to learn new things everyday! Coffee can be such a delicate thing, and there are so many different ways to have a cup.
What is something you have learned from working at BonLife? I’ve learned so much about coffee! I never took a step back and realized how huge the world of coffee really is. There’s so many different words and vocabulary to describe things, so many different ways to make a cup, and so many different flavors and tastes of coffee. Working here at BonLife, I have seen and learned so much about something so big as coffee!
What is something you hope to learn in specialty coffee? I would love to grow more with my latte art! Right now I’m practicing perfecting a simple heart, but hopefully one day I can do a lot more than that.
Go-to coffee drink? Vietnamese Cold Brew all day! I will sometimes change it up and try different syrups in the cold brew too.
What do you do outside of work? I love music! I listen to music at least 10 hours of the day. Whenever I’m doing anything with silence in the back, I will turn on my Clairo Radio!
I’m also currently studying at the University of Tennessee to obtain my masters degree in Special Education. I can’t wait to be a teacher!
What’s your favorite part of being a barista? I love interacting with people! Whether that be a regular, or someone’s first time in BonLife, I enjoy talking and making conversation with people behind the bar!
