Why We Love The Ceramic Hario V60
We’ve always loved a good brew method at BonLife, so why are we obsessing over this particular V60? Read on to find out!
The Hario V60 is a brew method loved by baristas the world over. We admit we have a soft spot for this pour over here at BonLife; it is one of our favorite ways to try new coffees. And it’s not just us! A quick internet search for pour overs brings up Hario V60 as a top favorite every time.
Why is it so loved? The V60's conical shape allows for deeper layering of coffee grounds, and its spiral ridges and lack of flow restriction allow the user to pour water quickly for a delicate body, or slowly for a heavier flavor. You can easily modify and control the recipe on this brew method. We love the delicate cup of coffee the V60 makes; we find it perfect for finding tasting notes in new coffees!
Another reason we love the Hario V60 is its simplicity. Yes, it’s recommended to brew it with a gooseneck kettle and a scale, but, at the end of the day, all you need in order to use a V60 is filters, hot water, and coffee! We shared our recipe for the perfect V60 in a previous blog post. In short, the V60 is so easy to use, making it perfect for a new home-barista or a coffee-lover who doesn’t like too many steps or accessories in their coffee routine.
As far as this black ceramic version of the Hario V60 goes, why do we love it? It looks cool. The iconic black color brings a new level of cool to any at-home coffee set up!
The beautiful Hario V60 ceramic drippers are made from Arita-yaki, a traditional style of Japanese ceramics with a 400 year history. Each dripper is handmade by a local craftsperson and is both functional and beautiful, making it a fun addition to your coffee accessory collection!

Note about the glaze: this special glaze offers a variation of pigment giving the dripper color depth and interest. The edges are lighter and the troughs are darker, making for a dynamic finish. Looks incredible in sunlight!
