Coffee Recipes For Spring
Spring is the perfect time to foster new ideas and try new things… especially in your coffee routine! So today we’re sharing new ideas and recipes for spring.
Recipe #1: Flash-brewed iced pour-over
It’s the time of year to introduce iced coffee into your routine, and this is one of our favorite ways to do so!
The recipe for this one is simple:
Measure out 100g of ice into the vessel you’re brewing the coffee into.
Prepare to make your normal pour over recipe. Grind the coffee, prep the filter, etc.
Once you start to brew your coffee, pour 100g less water onto the grounds than you normally would. When the coffee hits the ice, it instantly chills— hence the name “flash-brewed”.
This is a wonderfully delicate way to brew iced coffee: it’s light in body, and we recommend drinking it black. Perfect for a warm spring afternoon!
Recipe #2: Herb-infused simple syrup.
This one of our favorite ways spice up the spring coffee game! Herb-infused simple syrups are so easy to make, and you can choose your favorite herb (or blend of herbs) to make your signature syrup. Add the final result to lattes, iced coffees, iced teas, or even hot coffee with cream. Yum!
Here’s what you do:
Weigh out equal parts cane sugar and water. 500g of each makes about a good-sized bottle of syrup, but you can scale it down if you don’t need much.
Boil the sugar and water. Stirring until it comes together and the sugar is dissolved. This happens fairly quickly.
Toss in a handful of fresh herbs or a couple of springs of dried! About 2-3 Tablespoons is good, but you can eyeball this and adjust to your taste preferences.
Stir; then, once it is combined, take it off the heat.
Sit it the hot pan until it is cool to the touch. This should take at least an hour— you want the herbs to steep for at least 1-2 hours.
Strain and enjoy!
Herbs that are often combined with coffee include lavender and rosemary, but we say, try any herb you love! We’ve been digging our sage syrup at BonLife!
Recipe #3: Coffee sodas
Some days there is nothing more refreshing than a coffee soda!
Here’s how to make one at home:
Fill a tumbler or rocks glass full of ice
Add 8 oz of sparkling water or tonic water (whatever style or brand you prefer)
Add 1 oz of simple syrup (your spring herb ones will be perfect!) Use more or less according to your preferences.
Hold a spoon in the top surface of the soda and slowly pour in 2 oz of cold brew concentrate or one double shot of espresso to float it on top and avoid it overflowing.
Garnish with a citrus wedge! (lime, lemon, orange)
These drinks are so refreshing and beautiful— perfect for serving to guests if you’re hosting! You can play around with fun combos like orange lavender or rosemary and lime.
We love all of these bright and refreshing coffee recipes during the springtime and into summer. They’re perfect for the warmer weather! Let us know if you try any of them and what you think.
