Coffee Spotlight: DeBí TOMaR MaS CAFé
Let’s talk about our new blend, DeBí TOMaR MaS CAFé, in this week’s coffee spotlight.
“I Should’ve Had More Coffee…” is a sentiment we can all get behind… especially if it’s this coffee. With delicate tasting notes of citrus fruit, floral, baking spices, and a hint of milk chocolate, DeBí TOMaR MaS CAFé is the perfect light blend: we certainly can’t get enough of it!
We’ve blended one of our favorite coffees from Costa Rica with a delicious natural coffee from Kenya: the result is a harmonious combo of flavors that dance on the palate. (Yes, it’s an ode to a certain album of the year winner.)
The Costa Rican coffee comes from San Diego Mill in the Tarrazú region. Beneficio San Diego is the most modern mill in Costa Rica. It was established in 1888 and has been innovating ever since. The mill takes pride in striving for ever-increasing efficiency and quality standards. At the same time, it has taken a leading role in working with producers to ensure good community relations and sustainable production.
Kamundu is a 155ha coffee farm first established by British colonists but is now one of six estates owned and operated by Sasini, a publicily listed company with a majority Kenyan ownership. Sasini’s estates have long places an emphasiss on equity and community. In the case of the estate’s workers this involves the provision of living quarters, early child education, union membership and guaranteed payment above minimum wage.
To sum it up: these producers are creating excellent coffees and giving back to their communities at the same time, and we are so happy to support them. Plus, this blend tastes amazing: maybe you should have some more coffee.
