Coffee Spotlight: Finca La Secreta Lychee Process

In this week’s coffee spotlight, let’s talk about one of our most beloved coffees: a lychee co-ferment from Colombia. We sold out of this coffee in a flash last year and were so excited to bring it back this year!

Our Finca la Secreta is a very special co-fermented coffee from producer Juan Carlos Mejia; he fermented this Caturra coffee anaerobically with lychee. We roasted it to the ideal light roast in order to bring out the pleasant tropical fruit tasting notes. The result? Tasting Notes of sugar cane, dried tropical fruit, citrus, and floral.

Finca La Secreta owes its success to the dedication of Juan Carlos Mejia and his family, who work together to nurture over 130,000 coffee trees across their 30-hectare farm. Five of those hectares are a natural reserve, home to various animals and plants; this land protects wood and water resources. In addition to coffee, plantain, cassava, and bean crops also grow at Finca La Secreta. The fertile land and high altitudes reaching 2,050 masl at Finca La Secreta are ideal for cultivating high quality coffee trees.

Our Finca la Secreta is a very special co-fermented coffee from Colombia. Farmer Juan Carlos Mejia fermented this coffee anaerobically with lychee. We roasted it perfectly to bring out the pleasant tropical fruit tasting notes.

This coffee is balanced with well-rounded fruit-forward tasting notes.

This is exactly the type of producer we love to work with: one who gives back to their local community and respects the environment. But the real win is how delicious the coffee is too! Order a bag today and taste this amazing co-ferment for yourself!
